FORMAT: 2-Man teams. Flight assignments will be determined as described below.” Both team members hit from the tee on each hole. The team selects one of the tee shots and both team members hit from that location. The procedure is repeated until the ball is holed. The winner is the team with the lowest score for 18 holes. Team handicaps (as described below) will be subtracted from gross scores in the Encinitas, Carlsbad and Del Mar flights. A team must select at least three tee shots from each team member on the front nine and again on the back nine.

HANDICAPS: A team’s handicap index will be determined using  GHIN index revisions for each team member the Tuesday before the tournament. The team handicap will be calculated by taking 35 percent of the handicap index for the team member with the lower handicap index and adding 15 percent of the handicap index for the other member of the team. The team handicap index will be applied in determining the team’s course handicap for the tournament based on the tees from which the team plays.

FLIGHT ASSIGNMENTS: Teams will be seeded according to their team handicap index. Teams will be assigned to one of three evenly divided flights based on these seedings – the third of the field with the lowest handicap indices will be placed into the Encinitas Flight and will play from the blue tees, the next third of the field will be placed into the Carlsbad Flight and will play from the green tees, and the remaining third of the field will placed into the Del Mar Flight and will play from the white tees. This will result in flights with a similar number of teams and similar prizes for each flight.

PLAY IT FORWARD OPTION: Due to the format of this event, the Play It Forward Option will not be available, but a team may request that they be placed in a flight other than the flight to which they are assigned. The Tournament Committee will have the discretion to grant or reject the request based upon the effect the request may have on the competitive balance of the tournament.

FORMAT: This is an individual stroke play tournament with a points-based format similar to a Stableford. Every player starts with a score of 39 and then subtracts his course handicap from that. Further points are subtracted at each hole based on the gross scores recorded (see points table). The lowest score wins.

FLIGHT ASSIGNMENTS:  The Club will continue its general practice of placing tournament entrants into one of three flights, but the flights to which players will be assigned will be based on “seedings” rather than a fixed range of handicap indices (e.g., “10.0 or less”, “10.1 to 15.0”, or “above 15.0”).  Members entering any specific event will be seeded according to their current handicap index using  GHIN index revisions for each member the Tuesday before the tournament.  The tournament field will then be divided into three evenly divided flights based on these seedings – the third of the field with the lowest handicaps will be placed into the Encinitas Flight and will play from the blue tees, the next third of the field will be placed into the Carlsbad Flight and will play from the green tees, and the remaining third of the field will be placed into the Del Mar Flight and will play from the white tees.  This will result in flights with a similar number of players and similar prizes for each flight.

NOTE: Players may elect to play in the Championship Flight by indicating their election to play in this flight when they enter. This flight will play a gross score event and must play from the blue tees. The winner of the Championship Flight will be entered as the Club representative to the SCGA Tournament of Club Champions (Gross or Net Division based entry qualifications set by the SCGA). Players in the Championship Flight or the Encinitas Flight who will be 55 years or older on the date of the tournament will be entered into the Club Senior Championship automatically. If you will be older than 55 years on the date of this event, just check the appropriate box when entering. The winner of the Club Senior Championship will be the player with the lowest gross score among those entered and will be entered into the SCGA Tournament of Club Champions (Senior Gross or Net Division based on entry qualifications set by the SCGA).

GROUPINGS 1ST & 2ND DAY: Since this is a major, all flights will be kept together if possible. “Encinitas Flight” must play with “Encinitas Flight” etc. 2nd Day groupings will be based on what place you are in. The lowest scores will play in last groups of the flight, just like a PGA Event.

ELIGIBILITY: Member of ERMGC and Earn at least (1) Point to Qualify for Poinsettia Cup.  For Championship flight only, there is no eligibility for this event.

FORMAT: This is a team four-ball event contested by two-player teams. The better net score of the team members for each hole will be used to determine the team’s score. The team with the lowest score for 18 holes will be declared the winner. Each player will be allowed their full course handicap using  GHIN index revisions for each member the Tuesday before the tournament.

FLIGHTS AND PRIZES: There will be two flights in this tournament. Teams should elect their flight when entering the tournament. Players selecting the Open Division will play from the white tees. Players selecting the SCGA Qualifier Division will play from the blue tees, with the exception of Holes 8, 10 and 14, where the green tees will be used. The top two teams in the SCGA Qualifier Division are eligible for reimbursement of their entry fees for the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship, to be played at Olivas Links in Ventura on September 30 and October 1. The Club will reimburse the SCGA entry fee of $220 upon confirmation that the winners have in fact entered the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship. Teams in both flights will play for tournament prizes paid in Encinitas Ranch scrip. Individuals in each flight will also compete in skills contests for longest drive and closest to the pin. There will also be an optional skins game for each flight – there is an additional $10 cash-only entry fee for the skins game, payable on the day of the event.

NOTE: The SCGA no longer restricts entry into the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship to teams nominated by an SCGA Member Club. All Club members may enter the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship by going to the SCGA website – teams need not be comprised of members from the same course or club. Entrants in the SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship must select a qualifying round and qualify in order to earn a place in the field playing Olivas Links. Club members are advised that the local qualifying round will be held on Monday, August 26th, at the Temecula Creek Inn (Oaks/Creek).

PLAY IT FORWARD OPTION: Due to the structure of this tournament, a Play It Forward Option will not be available. Players should select the Flight in which they would like to play.

SINGLE ENTRANTS: The Club encourages players who do not have a prearranged partner to enter. We will place single entrants on a team with a partner of similar ability, or give you the option to play with a “blind draw” as a partner.

THE CLUB NET CHAMPIONSHIP

FORMAT: The first day of play will be played as a qualifying round. Order of finish will be determined by the net stroke results in each flight.” The top eight finishers in each flight will qualify for match play. Ties will be decided by a card off. If there are 8 or less competitors signed up in any particular flight, we will seed you based on your current index. Lowest index will receive the #1 seed and so on. The Club will sponsor two of the winners in the SCGA Tournament of Club Net Champions held in December 2019 and pay all entry fees. The Club’s representatives in the Tournament of Club Net Champions will be determined through a playoff among the three flight winners, to be played on a day and at a time to be mutually determined by the winners with play from the green tees.

PLAY DATES: The Qualifying Round will be played on Sunday, September 8th, and will be scored as an individual net score round. The top eight finishers in each flight will play in the Quarterfinals Match Play on Sunday, September 15th. Winners of the Quarterfinals matches will play in the Semifinals Match Play on Saturday, September 21st, and winners of the Semifinals matches will play in the Finals Match Play on Sunday, September 22nd. For the match play rounds, players may make their own arrangements to play on any other date, but no later than the dates specified for these rounds. Players are not required to accommodate any request made by their opponent to play on an alternative date and, in the event a player cannot play on the date specified for a match and no alternative date is agreed upon by his or her opponent, the player will be declared to be in default and the match will be awarded to his or her opponent.

FORMAT: Entrants will be divided into two separate, concurrently run competitions as follows.

The twenty-four Club Members having earned the most points in the 2018-2019 Points Cup Championship Series of events (commencing in October 2018 and ending in September 2019) will be invited to play in the 2019 Points Cup Net Championship for their flight. Members meeting this criterion will be notified of their eligibility to play in the Points Cup Net Championships shortly after the conclusion of the September Club Net Championship Tournament and must confirm their participation no later than October 1. Points counting toward the 2019-2020 Points Cup Net Championships, in addition to prizes, will be awarded to entrants in each flight based upon order of finish. Players will be seeded according to their handicap index using  GHIN index revisions for each member the Tuesday before the tournament.

Players will be assigned to one of three evenly divided flights based on these seedings – the eight players with the lowest handicap indices will be placed into the Encinitas Flight and will play from the blue tees, the next eight players will be placed into the Carlsbad Flight and will play from the green tees, and the remaining eight of the field will placed into the Del Mar Flight and will play from the white tees.”

Players not participating in the Points Cup Championship may enter to play in the ERMGC Friends & Family Open. The Friends & Family Open is a two-person better ball event. Club Members not competing in the Points Cup Championship and Associate Members may team up with Full Members, Associate Members and non-member guests of a Full or Associate Member. Two-player teams may consist of any combination of Full Members and Associate Members, or a combination of a non-member guest and either (a) a Full Member or (b) an Associate Member. If a Club Member or Associate Member would like to enter but does not have a partner, the Club will try to find a partner to fill out the team roster.

Each partner will record his or her gross score for each hole. The best net score between the two partners for each hole will count toward the team’s score for each hole. A player’s full handicap will be applied to determine net scores. For a guest-player who does not have a current GHIN index, the player’s gross score for each hole will be used, except for six holes selected at random (three on the front nine and three on the back nine), the better of the player’s score (eagle or birdie) or par will be used as the player’s score for those six holes.

Men will play from the green tees and women will play from the silver tees. The order of finish among teams will be determined based upon the teams’ total net scores for all 18 holes. Points toward the 2019-2020 Points Cup Net Championships, in addition to prizes, will be awarded to all entrants in this competition based on the order of finish and number of teams.

PLAY IT FORWARD OPTION: No

ENTRY FEE: Entry fees for the Points Cup  Championship are waived for all players. Entry fee for Friends & Family Open is $30 per player. (For members playing with a non-member guest, please provide the guest’s GHIN number if your guest has one when you register for this event. If you are playing with a guest, please note that your guest will not be eligible to play until their entry fees are received by the Tournament Committee.)
