2010 ERMGC 39er

The “39” Tournament is a points based format similar to a Stableford point system. Every player starts with a score of 39 and then subtracts his handicap from that. Then play is scored like a reverse Stableford.. The Championship Flight plays to scratch. The lowest score wins, and so on. There are no stroke holes as your strokes or handicap are subtracted at the start. This is an individual stroke play event.

The 2009 “Holiday Gift of Membership” program was a true success! If you were considering joining, due to recent rainfall in January and early February, we have extended the program through March 15, 2010. Surely you’re looking forward to longer and warmer days!

Right now is an unprecedented time to join Shadowridge Country Club. The 2010 golf season is rapidly approaching and the clocks spring forward on March 14th. This could be the last opportunity to take advantage of our discounted initiation fee and 1st year dues. The membership is reaching capacity and our retention levels far exceed alternative clubs in the North San Diego area.

This year, Shadowridge Country Club celebrates 25 years as the leading private golf club in the region. I personally invite you to experience the camaraderie and passion for golf shared by our membership.

Please contact me at the number below or e-mail me directly to dana.albert@ourclub.com. Don’t forget to visit our website at www.shadowridgecc.com. Stay tuned for the launch of the Player Development Center powered by Taylormade on March 13th, 2010.

Tournament Announcements

In the past two months, the Club has struggled to maintain an acceptable pace of play during the Team Play and Sunday Golf Tournaments. In an effort to keep an enjoyable day at the golf course from turning into a 5-6 hour gridlocked experience, we are posting the Club's policy regarding pace of play and will be strictly enforcing it during Club events. This message is meant to inform and help create a more enjoyable playing experience for the entire field. It is imperative that all players make an effort to improve the pace of play during Men's Club events to preserve the allotted weekend tee times provided by the City. We appreciate your cooperation.

ERMGC announces a NEW OPTION for Men’s Club members age 65 and over to elect to play in C Net Flight from the White regardless of their handicap index. The option is available for competition in Wednesday Sweeps and Weekend Tournaments. The option is designed to encourage senior members to enter club competitions from the white tees if they have felt disadvantaged by playing from course length from the green tees.

For example, under the previous system if your current handicap index was 14.0 you were placed in B Net Flight from the green tees. Now, you may elect to play in C Net flight from the white tees. Your course handicap will be calculated using the white tees course handicap chart.

To elect this option in Wednesday Sweeps, check the C Net flight box on the entry envelope and write SENIOR OPTION on the envelope. To elect this option in Weekend Tournament entries, write SENIOR OPTION in the comments section of the tournament entry online form.

2010 Points Cup

2010 Points Cup Standings

Championship Flight 27 points - Jim Hartley, Scott Stewart
A Flight 24 Points - Eric Diaz
B Flight 21 Points - Ken Wolff
C Flight 30 Points - Kevin Murphy

The Points Cup is a year long event, like the Fed EX Cup on the PGA tour. In each of our events, the top 10 players in each flight get points according to the place they finish in. Your points get added up through out the year regardless of the flight you may have played in for an event or based on your index. The more tournaments you play in the more chances you have to get into the Points Cup Tournament.

SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING THE 2010 POINTS CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

In an effort to increase monthly tournament play, with a little added excitement, incentive, pressure, and $$$ payout for the 2010 Points Cup Championship,

Your ERMGC Tournament Committee has implemented
the following bonus structure for 2010 PCC:

For every sponsored monthly tournament (January = Premier Imaging/Ted Cantor; February = Groove Sharpening/Ken Wolff; March = your company (?), etc.), ERMGC will increase the prize pool for the PCC by $200. ASSUMING we secure (10) sponsors over the year, that’s $2000 extra for the PCC Prize fund. That means 1st place in each flight of the PCC could pay off $300-$400!

Is this enough incentive to get your clubs out of winter storage?? Sign up for February NOW.

25/4 Water Visible as Result of Undue Effort with Feet

Q. In a wet area, casual water is not visible before or after the player takes his normal stance. However, by pressing down hard with one foot, the player causes water to appear around the sole of his shoe. Is the player entitled to relief under Rule 25-1b?

A. No. Water visible through undue effort with the feet is not casual water — see Definition of "Casual Water."

Casual Water

"Casual water" is any temporary accumulation of water on the course that is not in a water hazard and is visible before or after the player takes his stance. Snow and natural ice, other than frost, are either casual water or loose impediments, at the option of the player. Manufactured ice is an obstruction. Dew and frost are not casual water.
A ball is in casual water when it lies in or any part of it touches the casual water.
